03 Feb Best Browser Extensions For SEO
Diving into the world of SEO can be a bit intimidating, especially for beginners who don’t have access to websites and SEO tools. However, there’s still a way to gain some familiarity with the essential terms of SEO like:
- Domain authority
- Keyword difficulty
- Bounce rate
- Page per visit, and many more
It’s easy to get lost in the world of extensions some of them aren’t supported anymore and some are just too glitchy to use.
Now, remember no SEO extension is perfect! Some perform better than others in certain areas so this list is to help you choose which SEO browser extensions are the most useful for you.
SEO Browser Extensions to get you started
Mozbar

Moz was around from the beginning of the SEO age and it’s one of the leaders in this field.
This extension shows you the domain/page authority and spam score of any given domain name or search engine result page (SERP). Although Mozbar isn’t a backlink checker, it still helps you to find what type of links can appear on a page.
This comes in handy when you’re browsing your competitors’ domain and you wanna see the overall of how they’re doing.
SEO Meta in 1 Click

This is an extension specialized in Metadata. It shows you a detailed count of the page headers used in their order of appearance in HTML, how many images are used and those which are missing an Alternative text (Alt) or missing a title, Social media links, not to mention the lab Tools that you can use to check if your page is mobile-friendly, validate CSS, And many more features that partner with other websites like W3school, PageSpeed from Google.
This extension is very useful when you want to know what improvements can be made to your pages.
Similarweb

This is by far my favourite out of all the extensions that I’ve tried, because of the amount of information given with a single click.
This tool gives you a 360 view of the page you’re on from the global rank to country rank and even category rank, it also provides key metrics like bounce rate, page per visit, and average visit time.
And if you scroll further down, it can also tell what countries your audience is coming from, and even the sources of those (Social media, email, direct, search….).
Like I mentioned earlier, this is my favourite so if you’re just getting into SEO or just Curious about it you’re gonna love it too.
Google PageSpeed Insights API Extension

Part of Google Webmaster Tools, (Google’s collection of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools that help you manage your site in Google Search results).
With the increase in traffic that’s coming from smartphones, optimizing your website to be mobile friendly is necessary. This tool gives you a score on the performance, suggests improvements and if you see a score you don’t like you can just click on it to get the full report and work on the issues to help your website rank better.
Keywords Everywhere

One of the most popular keywords extensions out there because even if you’re just googling anything it will give you a list of similar keywords to go after and the SEO difficulty, off-page & on-page difficulty, what people search for, and even long-tail keywords! All of this without leaving the Google search result page.
This tool helps you get familiar with keywords in a quick way, and it has a lot of worth mentioning features like organic keywords ranking for domains/ URLs, and bulk traffic metrics.
Fatrank

As we all know, Google likes to update its algorithms every once in a while and sometimes without releasing that much info about how things are changing! Now one of the easiest ways to see how you’re doing after an update is using Fatrank, just go to the website and type in a keyword and pick a country, if you’re in the top 100 ranks in Google or Bing it will tell your exact spot, if you’re not it will just tell you that you’re not amongst the top 100.
Free Backlink Checker by LRT

Unlike the name, this extension checks outgoing links and finds broken ones, broken links affect bounce rate, the time a user spends on your website, which harms your SEO indirectly and might harm SEO directly because it’s considered a signal that your website is outdated.

Conclusion
SEO in general and SEO tools and extensions have a lot of aspects to them, it’s not a one time task that you can be done with and move on! you have to keep checking your links and following keywords trends and a lot can change if Google rolls out another update, so it’s a bit daunting if you’re inexperienced or a new business owner who’s not very familiar with SEO, so we suggest you hire someone experienced or an agency to help with the launch of your website so that you start the right way.
